Old versus New
 

Recently I was having a chat to some-one and we were talking about the old times.

Now while it is almost impossible to compare what is now and what was then how about we pick a battle-group of "old" Legion people (this can include the more recent Legion people who were Fury) against some of the new WoW people who I dont know a lot about.

You will need a mix of HC (with females due to their better diplomatic skills with the "troops"), battle commanders and loyal troops who would not just be mindless minions drooling at their execs feet.

I wont even bother to say how many you should include as it appears WoW people need 60 or so to beat a "boss".... please correct me if you use less.

Now this group is starting from scratch so you need techies as well.

Lastly you need to justify why you have key people in that position.

Oh and what game would we play....seeing as I started the thread how about the origins of it all..... PA. You never know maybe some-one has access to a beta we could use down the track for an hour or two.

You could even just include a few names for startes and grow. If I had a few to start with the HC would would be Grendel, Rampage, Maddy, Empy and Zhil.

Grendel for obvious reasons as he was and still is the best HC I know along with his graphics. Ramp was also an easy inclusion and Maddix was an excellent diplomat as well as tactician. Just about every-one would do what Empy asked as she had a way with the rank and file troops that is superb. Zhil could make the best politician yiou could imagine and after a while if you werent careful you could almost believe what he was saying (this is a compliment btw).

I am unsure of what other ex Fury exec/HC are in Legion these days but most of them have my respect and would have a place. A good HC would have about 7 people so have left 2 spots I will fill as I think over it more. Has Sid joined Legion yet??? as he is without a doubt some-one you would have to find a place for as he is/was the ultimate tactician/politician you could find.

The same for the rest of things..... there are so many good "old" Legion people it needs more thought.

I have no idea who the new people are so I would look forward to hearing about them :)

HC would need a female and Empy would be better than me. Zhil was just about the most convincing poster I knew and he had utmost loyalty from the troops. So both of them before me. Zhil may have never had the best planet in the game but if you ask any-one who he led then you would find he had the highest regard.

Bob... dont kill me for saying this ;) but Zhil was/is l33t and if you ask Zhil I defended him hugely round 2 when he was being bashed by people as he was a friend of a gal mate. The other funny thing about round 2 is Hicks (then using another nick) was my GC and I would say that he developed into a great HC but I dont know if he is currently "Legion"

The fun part is getting a mix of the best.

Also I am curious about the "new" Legion and would like to know more if they would be kind enough to reply

I wouldnt left out TiG as a Battle Commander, he was imo the best of them all when it came to the big big raids!

KR shouldnt be forgotten either, he was also awesome in his job.

Another go for the HC would be ARE. Good diplomatic person.

Dont think you can compare the new wow peeps to the old pa peeps, tho some peeps in SWG had some real leadership potential. Versatti for example, but not sure if they read this part of the forum.

new people don't know how to play PA! should be a game we're all on even ground in.

I would say yes to Tig but a huge no to KR. Tig was great and could lead a battle like few others.

KR was the reason I split from Legion to form Wolfpack formally way back in round 3 of PA.

Decoy was more than a l33t techie, he was a friend and some-one I admired strongly but we also have some amazing techies now.

BDB..... You have a hard streak I just love which made you a great BC as well..... and a damn hard target to kill even against all odds you evaded me :D

Toon town.... hmm sounds like something that is from a disney movie.

If we played CS I want Carp (I want him in PA too) but he better not call me a n00b like some moron did the other day playing CS when I was having some fun showing my son the best ways to die (standing next to doors while looking away from then is usually effective ;)

The problem with WoW it seems is its not a huge team game like the "old" games but I am still interested in hearing everything Legion since I have been away.

A strategy game is the most fun for me but if some-one wanted to tell me what Toon Town is I would be interested without having toask my kids

BD is on a quest for new shoes, and havent been heard from since he started it.

Yes we have broadband but my kids dominate the computer these days. Good to see so many people say hello and that they hadnt forgotten me during my absence.

Its not a thread to get people back to PA....... I am well and truly over that even if it still holds memories.

I guess the reason why I started a thread like this was to see what direction Legion had gone since I was away and also what the general members were like now.

I have great pride in what I did and made some great friends. The game I play is irrelevant as once I start something I have a problem stopping it until I feel I have mastered it... much like most Legion members were like. Best of the best and some of our "enemies" were much the same.

The lack of replies from the newer members is frustrating as I would like to know how they think and work. So just pander my oddness and continue who would be best..... and Maddix you of course were one of the best. so tell me who you would appoint as BCs... or squadroin leaders or whatever they are called these days. Surely attacks are planned and not just some huge number of people randomly killing bosses. The post on the front of the Portal showed they planned what they did collecting herbs etc...... just like we use to plan battles.... well maybe not collecting herbs

Now just one more thing... I liked using my imagination when I laid waste to a planet rather than seeing some fancy graphics. The censors wouldnt allow any-one to put on a server the destruction I caused ;) The battle cries of pilots as they went into battle against all common sense also was fun... so who needs 3D :D

Some of those "new" members are very "old" members now and I don't mean thier age ;) What it's been over 4 years since legion was active in PA? Alot happens in 4 years, infact a hell alot has happened in those 4 years. Legion has had active divsions in a multiple of games in that time and each has thier history bad and good.

3) Star Wars Galaxy
4) World of Warcraft
5) EVE Online

I'm sure theres been others aswell.

Truth of the matter we are no longer the best at what we do becasue too many of us really know what it takes inorder to be the best and no longer can justify the sacifice to our lives it takes. But hay people being people they still dream the dream and live on old memories, remembering them with rose tinted glasses.

People change alot in 4 years. Some of us are wiser and maturer than we once was. Some of us are jaded and cynical. Guess which one I am? :p

Yes there are new faces, infact there is probably more new faces than old faces. But again this all depends on who you are, the new faces to you are I've known for a number of years. Some have left, some have gone inactive and others are just forum spammers ;)

Now that I've got to the end of this post I ponder what was my point and why I took the time to write it...........ah yes I'm bored :p

Is it really 4 years since PA was over for Legion? Time flies and I thought it was only a short time ago.

Yes people have different attitudes than when they were playing a while ago. You do however get the urge to come back and see how things are going.

Lo Steam and yes I was amused with your sig you gave me :) but changed it as I felt I would be a little more active on the forums and irc than I was.

Some-one told me I should use messenger these days but thats something you younger folk do ;). Back in my day we use to think 2 cans and some string was pretty fancy :D I still remember the first PC I used had 4k RAM and that was impressive back then... even if it was an Apple :(

Hello fred.. ta for the vote of confidence in your "HC list" but well i've pretty much hung up my command hat for now (fictional and otherwise :tongue: ).

Taking a very long break from wow legion and other games atm. (life just gets in the way of gaming now :/)

I think in regards to legion its changed far to much to do an old versus new as we all have varying degrees of what that really means. ppl like us that have been around since PA those that were part of AO at its earliest conceptions and ofc SWG at the start of us becoming a legion gaming community. All really can claim they are "old" members.

I think at this point we are all either legionnaires that understand what legion is about.. be it the legion elitism but not at the expense of your fellow legionnaires and not for individual gain but for the good of the guild and preserving that family we've held onto for years and those that see us as a means to an end. Those that fall into the first category will be here 5 yrs from now (if legion still exists then) doing what we've always done. cause drama and have fun :p those that fall into the second.. well dont let the door hit your ass on the way out is all i have to say to them.

Ppl have changed, grown up, made life altering decisions over the last 4-5 years since pa has ended and legion has changed along with them. Good or bad, right or wrong .. we've either gotta accept what legion has become or move on. sadly many of our compatriots have chosen to move on.

I am glad tho that you have decided to come back and post again (even the rare irc visit!! omg!) You've been very much missed my friend so i hope you continue to hang around. Besides Bob needs you to stablize him from time to time :o

well.. i dont wanna call myself a new member of Legion (most because i havent yet been accepted properly), some say im allready a legionnaire some say im not.. well anyways..
ofcourse i sometimes want/wish Legion just to sign up in PA again, Shake the cage, show what we/Legion was to new guys in PA.. that would be soo great fun!

enlisted to Legion 3 years ago, got denied for some reason
got accepted for being as SWGlegionnaire
quit AO
quit SWG for simple reason': fkdup life, fkd up gameplay
almost 2 years of absence...
started play WoW
enlisted to Legion again, no replies yet..
still playing WoW

to most ppl in Legion i guess im a "new" face, cause i havent really talked to anyone, kinda like in my RL, heh
sure i have played with some, small talked to some, but mostly thats it..

as i havent been deply inside Legion yet i have only watched it from the surface and ive seen small changes as the things ppl talkin about.. good things, bad things..

i dunno where im headin with this either, kinda like some1 said.. mostly bored :biggrin:

but sure, i would like to see MANY from Legion sign up to a game of something new, quik game, not steal-ur-life-away kinda game.. but something small and just have some good old fun!

and empy.. i do hope Legion will be here after those 5 years, cause if not its gonna be awful lonely here for me :wink:
