SWG: Beta 3 Update
The Devs discovered a process to improve their load times, and delayed the release of the Beta 3 CD until they could incorprate the new change. On Wednesday they received the Beta 3 master disks for final testing. They plan to make 50,000 copies (plus some extra for marketing contacts).
They already printed the disk art on all those disks to save time and have been compiling their list of people to invite as Beta testers. They are waiting for the "Powers That Be" to give the word, so they can start sending out invites and get us into Beta 3.
Thats the latest that I've heard.

Nope, not untill the "powers that be" give the go ahead like Mr Rico said.
Im wondering if it will be 50k American testers or 50k Multi-National ones.

I don’t recall any official statement about this, but i would doubt that they'll invite euro people..
The Legal problems concerning the NDA or the shipping cost would be reasons enough..... :(:dead:

/me have also signed up for the beta
I am an european also, wondering why they shouldn´t pick us??
Isn´t it good to spread the beta-testers worldwide??
If i would make a game ( wich i can´t, but would like to ) i would have thought it would be best to let different cultures and different ppl from all over the world to try it...
Am i wrong with my thoughts ??

No, You are right, BUT... to expand my points..
The just won't take certain risks, and will rather limit the Beta to US people than resolve the following issues.
The different Judication in European Countries, that could pose a problem enforcing the NDA, going as far as that a local law cold void the NDA contract altogeather.
Shipping the beta CD transatlantic. the options here qould be spending half of the retail game price on shipping, or having it arrive at a time the beta could already be over.
and since the game is a US release at first, i dont think they are interrested in that much usage data from anywhere else. Thats something they could worry about when the game is up and running in the states.
So, i'm really not expecting any European to get a Beta invitation.
(please please please someone proove me wrong... ;) )

hahaha crazy europeans
hey JR are you in beta?
hey razor have you played the beta?
and last:
DOES ANYONEKNOW IF THE GAME WILL RUN ON MY SYSTEM?
my system:
intel p3 550 mhz
128mb ram (sd i think)
13gb hd (~2.5gb free)
52x12x(?)x cd-rw drive
Geforce 2 MX 4600 (something like that) 64mb 4x AGP
note that america's army requires a p3 700+ and i can run it :)
i think my vid card helps a bit.

I think you'll need a new computer unless you like to completely lag out when anyone else enters your area ingame...

They officially started Beta 3 today!
Here are important notes:
They are inviting 5000 new people by Friday, and will be adding more people next week and the week after. They intend to "ramp up" to 50,000 by early May.
The selection process is mostly random, but they are hand picking people who theythink would make good testers .
There still is no official release date yet, and they want to get little bit into Beta 3 first before establishing the date.

can you _please_ stop spamming old threads where no one is posting anymore? if you _really_ have something important to add to such an old thread, ok - but stop it, if you just spam around...
JR created a new thread containing new informations about the beta, take a look there (or try to read the official boards, helps also :D)
