Pretty damn impressive isn't it. I couldn't help but notice the similarities to the Half Life tech demos though, which actually came out before this. ;) Either way, it means cool games for us. :D

Back in the old day Fileplanet was great, ace collection of game addons and mods etc and direct download, no queues and certainly no registration. Where did those days go hehe

Back then (96/99 or so) the first specialized gaming download page was quakefiles.com. well, they where pretty popular, untill gamespy created fileplanet in just weeks after quakefiles went public.
They obviously just ripped the idea but oh well....

Gamespy is the microsoft of gaming anyways.... and all of that was built on a really crappy Visual basic app..... *sigh*

Back in the old days there have only been a few thousand gamers aroud the world, only a few games have been played and most ppl behaved like grown-ups, but today there are millions of gamers, hundreds of games and most ppl behave like 12 year old kids (maybe most of them are 12 year old kids?).

There is no way a service like FilePlanet can survive today without getting money in some way, and the non-paid servers are busy close to 24/7 because there are so many ppl.
FilePlanet may be bad in some way, but they offer a really good service. I only have a free account, because i don't use it that often, but i would pay for it, if i would be still as active as i used to be - back in the old days :)
