SWG and The Legion

Star Wars Galaxies and The Legion’s role within it

After leaving planetarion the Legion decided to ‘move’ to Star Wars Galaxies (SWG), the game Sony is developing with Lucas Arts checking whether it will be consistent with the so called extended universe. SWG will be a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) which should be released somewhere around February 2003 and is aiming for a 5 year long lifespan. Sony is planning to release a space expansion pack somewhere later 2003, this expansion pack will make it possible to fly in – how did u guess – space.

The setting of SWG will be the Galactic Civil War, which fans refer to as the “Classic Era”. The exact time hasn’t been pinpointed but it will definitely be after the destruction of the first Death Star and the Battle of Yavin. SWG will have at least 9 planets (for example, Naboo, Tatooine and Yavin 4) to which players can travel and build there own houses, have there own vehicles and even pets.

To keep players busy SWG will have 25 professions ranging from a designer to armorer and from Jedi to creature handler. Every character will have a ‘skill-pool’ that will allow 3 professions to be maxed. One of the really nice things of SWG is the fact that the characters are ‘fluid’ which means that the skills can be dropped and set to other skills, to get the new skill one will need to get the needed exp, however.

Being Star Wars, SWG can’t go without the so called factions. The present factions will be the all mighty Empire, the nasty Rebels and ‘the Neutrals’, there planning to let the Hutts appear as well but not from the start. The Legion will be on the side of the mighty empire and is aiming to reign its own city. Our goal is to be totally self sustaining on all fronts for as much as possible, to do this we will have a great variety of professions – all the gaps need to be filled so probably even all. Of course we will have a great military division to fight with strength and honour and win our wars.

Legio Victor!,
